1 in 5 Australians will experience a mental health problem in any given year. That means that every person is likely to know someone who is experiencing a mental health problem, whether that is a family member, a friend, or a colleague. In fact, mental illness is now said to affect every Australian either directly or indirectly.
We need more mental health literacy and support skills in the community to help catch more Australians experiencing mental health problems and troubled times. This is where Mental Health First Aid training can help.
Mental Health First Aid skills-based, early-intervention training programs mobilise and empower communities by equipping people with the knowledge and confidence to recognise, connect and respond to someone experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis.
Anyone can have a conversation that may save a life. Everyone should know how.
Completing Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training will help you to develop the skills to support a friend, family member, co-worker or member of the general public, who may be developing a mental health problem, or experiencing a mental health crisis.
At PsychAssist, we have 3 options for the delivery of Mental Health First Aid training; Face-to-face, online and Blended Online. We can also conduct private and workplace based training, nationwide.
This is a 12-hour course which is usually delivered as either a 2-day training package (6 hours per day), or as 4 separate modules (3 hours each).
There is also a blended option, with an online component.
Blended MHFA Courses include two components:
• Course Component 1: A self-paced eLearning component (takes 5-7 hours to complete)
• Course Component 2: An Instructor-led component either face-to-face or using video conferencing technology
